Default The menu To,CC,BCC at the bottom of contacts list has disappeared

The toolbar/menu "To, CC, BCC" formerly at the bottom of my contacts/address
book has disappeared. Formerly I highlighted the name of a contact, clicked
"To", and the address was automatically pasted into To.

Moreover, I cannot copy and paste an e address directly into a message.

Is it below the bottom edge of the screen? If not, you need to answer Russ's
questions so we know exactly which screen you're supposed to have.

I am running Outlook 2003; I cannot find any add'l info under properties for
Outlook itself. WinXP, Home, v.2002 SP2 Is that adequate info? If not, how
can I learn more about the properties.

I do not understand "information store."

I am on the "Select Names" screen, with "Contacts" all listed. However, at
the bottom of that list, the menu/taskbar To,CC,BCC etc. does NOT appear as
it formerly did. I HAVE scrolled down adequately . . . it simply doesn't
appear.

NOTHING happens when I attempt to select a name and have it appear in the
now non-existing menu/taskbar--the screen simply flashes and reappears. Not
can I copy & paste the selected name to the top of a new message blank.

It is unclear what you mean by the "Select Names" screen. There are several.
Only the one you invoke using the To: button in a new message window has the
view you describe.
"Information store" means are you running against Exchange Server or a local
Outlook data file?

Sequence: Open a new message in Mail.
Click on the Address Book icon. Result is the “Select Names” screen I spoke
of. It comes up “No entries in this Address Book.” I have to click in
the upper right, “Show Names from the” and I have to switch to Contacts, and
my entire list of contacts appears. HOWEVER, I can do NOTHING from that list
of Contacts—no copy/paste, no move to Address Book, no move-to, etc.. Have
I changed a default somewhere?

I have not been in the habit of clicking on To on the message header, as
you suggested. Rather, I load all the recipients To, CC, BCC on the
submenu/toolbar BELOW my list of contacts WHICH NOW IS NOT APPEARING. Then,
with one click OK, they are all transferred into the message header.

I am clueless when you reply: "Information store" means are you running
against Exchange Server or a local Outlook data file?

Sounds like you just managed to corrupt your Outlook Address Book Service.
Remove it from your profile.
Restart Outlook. Re-add it and enable your Contacts Folder as an email
address book in its properties.
