Changing Phone Number Titles
I'd like to change Business Number to Work Number and Assistant Number to
Cell Number. I too cannot believe that Microsoft doesn't give us this option. I just spent a whole hour trying to change the field lists under the phone number category. I'm with you Eric. I'll have to let MS know that we'd like to have this option. Maria ********************* "Eric" wrote: Hi, I'm a student going to University in the fall. I would like to keep track of the contact information for my friends, which for most includes a home phone number as well as a new number for reaching them at school. Is there any way (a registry hack or anything) that I can change the titles of the phone numbers in Outlook? I would like one option to be set for "School", and it could replace one of the many titles that I will not be using such as Assistant. I do not want to use "other" for all my contacts' school information. I can't believe Outlook doesn't offer the option to rename fields, actually. Thanks! |

In Outllook you can change these names quite easily by modifying the Form
that Outllook uses to display the information of an individual record. If you modify the default form then all records will be displayed with the changed field name. "maria" wrote in message ... How would you do that? I've tried everything. The same fields come up even
though I've added new ones. "LaManchaDQ" wrote: In Outllook you can change these names quite easily by modifying the Form that Outllook uses to display the information of an individual record. Not quite. You could modify the contact form to put each field on a page in its own text box and modify the label for that box. But you cannot change the actual field names, nor can you change the appearance of the built-in phone number selector drop-down lists.

Yep,
Sue is right. I had recently changed some names (actually the captions) on some fields in the Contact form and I erroneously assumed that since I was able to change some of captions I could change any of them. So, Marie, sorry for misleading you. Sue, what is the reason for locking down the captions on the phone fields? "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... Not quite.
