Outlook 2007b: Text Entry on Contact Categories?
 

We use categories fairly extensively to categorize our contacts... imagine
that!

The problem is that the 2007 version of quick-click labels is a major pain
when dealing with dozens of different categories; it seems to be a great
benefit for GTD-style task management, but for information sorting it's just
not doing it for us.

So the question: is there a way to reactive the old-style "categories"
functionality found in 2003 (ie, the simple type-it-here text box)? This was
amazingly useful for us, and the upgrade totally kills our workflow.

What is wrong with the option of opening the contact, click on categorize
and then New?

Outlook 2007b: Text Entry on Contact Categories?
 

I suppose it is much better to have everyone in our workgroup reconfigure
their Outlook client to accomodate the new design paradigm, rather than to
have the tool fit the workflow needs.

Pick a number: a dozen, six dozen, twenty dozen categories. With the simple
text field, the number of categories is a non-issue; with the
build-find-click model, the ease of use diminishes exponentially.

Sure, the new model can accomodate the same functionality - but in this
scenerio it's not an improvement.

Perhaps BCM adds something useful to counteract this scenerio...
