You checked what box in what Outlook version using what transport?
Also state more clearly the behavior you are seeing that you think you
shouldn't.

My other 3 questions remain:
1. What "box" did you check
2. What mail transport
3. What is happening that you think shouldn't.

How do I stop Check Names in Outlook? I have checked off the

1) Under tools - options - email options - advanced - automatic name checking
2) Pop if that is what you mean
3) When outlook does not find an email address or name in the address book,
up pops a message box that says it cannot find the name. Choices then are to
cancle of discard. "Ok" is not lit up. If I hit cancle the program crashes
and the email is not sent.

Thank you.

Outlook does not do that even when automatic name checking is selected. All
Outlook requires is a valid address format. So I'll need the rest of the
story: how you are entering the address, its format, and what step triggers
the Check Names dialog. State whether your installation ever worked, and if
so when it stopped.
