Lost Contacts when switching setup
Hi- My laptop had originally belonged to my husband, and had his contacts in
Outlook (along with messages, task list, etc), originally set up to work with MS Exchange. I decided to try to reconfigure Outlook (2000 SP-3) to work with my webmail. Under 'Mail services' I clicked 'prompt for a profile to be used' and then 'reconfigure mail support'. All of the info from my husband's account disappeared. I can only find one .pst for him, and it only seems to contain an old task list- nothing else. I don't find a .pab for him at all. I assumed that all of the mailbox info was saved on the hard-drive somewhere, since it was appearing in Outlook. Any suggestions about how I can go about restoring this info? Thanks. |

How was it appearing on the laptop if it only resided on the exchange server?
W ouldn't it have to be saved somewhere to continue to appear, even months after he had stopped using it for work, and therefore connecting to the exchange server? You have provided no real information. If your claim is that you "lost" this
information only after you reconfigured the profile to use HTTP mail instead of Exchange, then one must assume that the original profile remained connected to Exchange. You "lost" it by creating a profile without an Exchange connection. If instead you meant something else, clarify what you mean. Well, I am trying to provide all the info I have. It's correct, I lost the
info when I reconfigured the profile without an exchange connection. However, my husbands email including contacts were set to synch with exchange so he could work offline. Since it was synched, and all of the info was available offline (for months after the last time it synched to Exchange), it still makes sense that it should be saved somewhere. It is saved in an OST file which you cannot access unless you are using the
