Adding email addresses to an old distribution list

I have an old distribution list which contains 1 email address. On a daily
basis I need to add addresses to this list from emails harvested from sent or
received emails. I tried the instructions from Help but they do not
work(There is no UPDATE NOW button on my screen). Also when i get into
address book and double click the list. the list name simply gets added to
the TO field instead of opening and showing the enteries. I have outlook 2003
SP2.

Adding email addresses to an old distribution list

Your post is very vague and completely lacking in details. You should never
try to use a DL that is "old" or from another installation. We have no way
of knowing what "instructions" you followed nor what you could possibly mean
by "adding addresses harvested from sent or received emails." Statements
like that have meaning only to you. State clearly what you are doing, what
happens, and what isn't happening as you think it should.

Adding email addresses to an old distribution list

When I said "old" I meant I just created a new distribution list with one
email address that I took from a email that was forwarded to me.This iist is
in the Contacts folder.

What I now want to do is to add another address to this same list. The new
email address will be lifted from the "To" field of an another email that is
forwarded to me.

Help instructions say to open distribution list in the contacts folder and
click update now.But my screen does not show any such button.I opened the
contacts folder by clicking the address book icon which I got when I right
clicked the email address I wanted to save and chose "add to contacts". Is
there another way to open the contacts folder in this view. Remember the
email was forwarded to me.

Hope this clarifies the situation somewhat.

Adding email addresses to an old distribution list

For starters, you should never use the Address Book view to access or edit
your Contact data. That should only be done from the Contacts Folder.
The only reliable way to add a sender to a DL is to first add them to your
Contacts Folder, then use the "Select Members" button to add them to the DL.
The Update Now button exists in every valid DL (to the right of "Select
Members") but it certainly would do nothing to add new members to a DL.

Thanks. I followed your advvice and it worked. It was the Help instructions
that confused me.
