Default Birthday Reminders

Is there a way to suppress the birthday reminder in Outlook 2002? I'd like
to add/use the Birthday field, but don't want an automatic reminder added
to my calendar.

Thanks.

Open the birthday event and disable the reminder.

Where is the 'birthday event'? I don't see that option on the menu, etc.
Thanks.

The "birthday event" is the birthday that Outlook adds to the calendar when
you set a contact's birthday value in the contact record. It's just an
ordinary, recurring all-day event. Look on the calendar for the person's
birthday, open the series, and uncheck the reminder.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain myself correctly. I would like to suppress
the entire event. I just want to use the Birthday field in Contacts as
information, not to create a Calendar event at all. Is this possible?

I don't think that's possible using the birthday field. In fact, if you
include a birthday in the Contacts record, then remove it from the calendar,
if you later make a change to that contact, the birhday will be readded.
You'll have to use some other, miscellaneous field or enter the birthday as
a notation in the note pane of the contact.

Brian-

You seem to be very knowledgeable about the birthday reminders. I am having
a really wierd issue. It seems that sometime, quite often actually, when I
create a new contact with a birthday or anniversary or when I go to an
existing contact and add a birthday, a reminder calendar event is not
automatically generated. Any ideas??

Thanks Brad

You seem to be very knowledgeable about the birthday reminders. My problem
is that Outlook is not always generating a reminder when I put in a birthday
or an anniversary. Do you have any ideas??

Thanks,

Brad

Appearances can be deceiving.

These are contacts you've created with the New button and not by importing?
I'm afraid I have no way to diagnose an issue such as this. I've never had
it happen. When I've added contacts (or updated them with birthdays or
anniversaries), then clicked Save and Close, entries always appear in the
calendar and they always have my default reminder setting. I just checked
again to make sure by creating a new contact and adding a birthday to it.
The calendar entry appeared with a reminder of five minutes set.

Actually it is happening on both contacts that I have imported and created as
new contacts. Really wierd.

Thanks for your help.
