Default Lost Contacts / Information when Upgraded to 2007 from 2003

Well our office upgraded to MS Office 2007 from MS Office 2003, by putting
the upgrade disc in the machine and running the wizard. As far as I know each
machine automatically backs up daily to the office server. I do not know
where the files are stored, or if the files are over written each day or if a
new back up file is made.

Since the upgrade we are finding that many contacts in the shared group
contacts folder are missing information like phone numbers or email addresses
and some contacts have dissapeared all together. Of course the missing
contacts are the most important ones.

How can I restore the state of the contacts to the pre-upgrade version?

Are you using Exchange server or a PST? Were the contacts in your contacts
folder or shared folders? Did you make regular backups of your data?

Exchange Server, Contacts were in a shared group folder, and as far as I know
each system is set up to back up to our server on a regular basis.
