I have run into this problem in both OL 2003 and 2007. Sometimes when I
attempt to save a contact change I get the message "This item cannot be saved because it was changed by another user or in another window. Do you want to make a copy in the default folder for this item? I get around it by erasing/cancelling the change, opening up the contact again, and re-entering the change. Then sometimes it will save. If the changes were substantial, this is very cumbersome. When I say go ahead and save in default folder, I can never find and do not know what is the "default folder". I've just run into the issue again when attempting to add contacts to a new Distribution List. I use Oulook Connector, but don't see how that could be involved. Any ideas/suggestions? |

Is anything else accessing that Contacts list? Synch software ...?

BillR - The only thing is Outlook Connector. I have four machines (2 at
office and 2 at home). Each set has an MSN (different ones for my wife and myself) account with Outlook Connector and all machines are kept on so there is continuous updating (on OCs random schedule). I have seen the error on all machines. It could be that the randomness of the error may be tied to the background synchronization. I have had considerable long-term issues with getting Outlook Connector to keep everything synchronized, but overall is appears to be working. There is a new version (3), but I really have had a lot of trouble getting technical information and support for this product. When I had an original problem with OC, a top Outlook technician could not find/talk to a senior OC person. Had to call like a customer. Never could find out "who" in MS owned the product. So, I guess I had not even considered this product might be involved in the Outlook error. Thanks "BillR [MVP]" wrote: Is anything else accessing that Contacts list? I'd say you found the problem. It would be having all connected at the same
time. Sorry to hear about your problem finding someone to contact. I know it well. Maybe if you go for the beta of the OC there will be a feedback mechanism. I think it's an informal beta so it won't have support groups which is a shame. -- Bill R MVP "J Austin" wrote in message ... BillR - The only thing is Outlook Connector. BillR: Yes, you are probably correct. But, having them connected and all
up-to-date is the main reason I went to OC. They should really detail what the limitations are. I can't even find a formal list of the list of fields that it synchronizes. I actually started with OC when Outlook support told me I had to use it to get categories to work with e-mail. I'll try your suggestion and see if I can get somewhere with the new beta. However, that in itself is a scary approach. Thanks for the feedback. "BillR [MVP]" wrote: I'd say you found the problem. It would be having all connected at the same time. The beta version is fine. I'm using it here.
