Default Messaging interface error in Windows Vista

New to Vista. Have Outlook 2000 as default email. Can open the address book
until I attempt to compose a new message. When I try to open the address
book to select a name, I get the following message:
"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook."
Restart does not help. Detect and repair didn't help. No problem with
Outlook until Vista, any ideas how to fix this?

You probably can't. Outlook 2000 is not supported on Vista. Have you tried
the standard workarounds for this error? You did not post accurate enough
version information for us to tell you which those are. Search the KB for
the ones that match your mail support mode.
