Location of Distribution Lists in Contacts
I am using Outlook 2003.
Last week I created two distribution lists. When I click on Contacts, I see these 2 disbtribution lists in the NAVIGATION PANE underneath my contacts folder, like this: Contacts Battelle 1 Battelle 2 However, today when I created new distribution lists, they are defaulting to INSIDE of the contacts folder. So the new distribution lists do not appear in the navigation pane as above, but in the contacts folder itself when opened. I'd like to be able to store distribution lists both ways; inside and outside the contacts folder. I don't know how to specify that they be shown outside the contacts folder. Ideas? -- William |

Your description is not accurate. You cannot create a DL anywhere but in a
Contacts Folder. I suspect you are confusing a group that you created in the Nav Pane with a DL. They are two completely different things. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "William" wrote in message ... I am using Outlook 2003. Last week I created two distribution lists. The group that is displayed under the Contacts folder in the Navigation Pane
is titled "Battelle 08 01 31." When I click on it, a Windows box comes up with this in the title bar: "Battelle 08 01 31 - Distribution List." So Outlook seems to recognize this as a DL even though it appears in the Navigation Pane and not the Contacts Folder. After reading your email, I have tried to create additional DL's in the Navigation Pane, but these turn up stored in the Contacts folder. I'd like to be able to create these groups and show them in the Navigation Pane, as in the Battelle file mentioned above, but can't figure out how I did it the first time. No. No one I know has ever done what you claim, and we still don't know how
you managed to do it since you can't tell us and can't do it any more. DL's are Outlook Items that reside in Contact Folders. Always have been, always will be. Groups in the NAV pane are simply groups of Contact Folders. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "William" wrote in message ...
