Outlook driving me mad!

Hi,

I am trying to import my contacts from an Excel spreadsheet into Outlook. I
feel like I have tried EVERYTHING! I have saved my data as both an excel
spreadsheet and in CSV format. I have made sure the columns AND the range of
data is identified.

I check and check again to make sure my fields are mapped correctly. I have
tried eliminating symbols that might interfere (even though I don't see why
they would).

Every time I do the import, all of the data is imported EXCEPT for the
address.... it gets the name, city, state, phone etc etc but ALWAYS leaves
out the address!

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? If so, I would
greatly appreciate some help.

Thanks!

JPorter

is the full address in one cell or is the street address in a cell separate
from the city, state and zip? Try changing the street address field to the
one outlook uses so it doesn't need mapped.

the address fields a
BusinessStreet
BusinessStreet2
BusinessStreet3
BusinessCity
BusinessState
BusinessPostalCode
BusinessCountryRegion
HomeStreet
HomeStreet2
HomeStreet3
HomeCity
HomeState
HomePostalCode
HomeCountryRegion
OtherStreet

OtherStreet3
OtherCity

I have the street address (including suite number) in one column, separate
from city, state, and zip which are all in their own columns. Are you saying
I should consolidate all of the address info into one column (address
together with state, zip, etc) or separate it as much as I can into
individual fields?

Use Individual fields. does the street address and suite include a comma?
If so, remove it.

Outlook driving me mad!

I'm having the same problem.
It seems that when addresses are input into Outlook Contacts, they cannot be
split up into AddressStreet1, AddressStreet2 and AddresssStreet3, but all end
up dumped in a single 'Street' box, separated by carriage returns, which is
then exported into Excel into a single cell, called AddressStreet1, including
those carriage returns. AddressStreets 2 and 3 remain empty, but are there!
Separating them out can be done by importing into Word replacing each
carriage return with a symbol and then then importing back into Excel and
splitting the text into columns using the symbol as the separation point.
It's a real pain, but is possible.
Is there a way of inputting the data into the 3 AddressStreet fields rather
than the catch all 'Street' box?
Thanks

Reality is that the "street address" component for any of the 3 address
field groups (home, business, other) is in fact stored internally by Outlook
as a single field so there is nothing you can do in terms of "separating"
the fields within the Outlook address blocks.

The Outlook import wizard simply allows you to map individual street address
fields in the import field map UI but all that happens is the various fields
are still only consolidated into a single street address line which is also
the only field that gets exported via the Outlook export wizard.

Depending on what your requirements are, you may find one of the following
links of interest:
http://www.contactgenie.com/cg20features.htm - importing
http://www.contactgenie.com/cgxfeatures.htm - exporting (can export
multi-line street addresses as separate fields)
