Default I have two outlook contact files - HELP

Somehow, I have two "contact" files... one has date, the default one does
not... in other words, if I try "carolsm" in the email address line, it
should find ... but it doesn't. it asks me to
find the address and when I use the drop down list is shows
"Outlook Address Book" (empty)
"Outlook" (empty)
"Outlook" (has data, but isn't being accessed)

How do I delete the empty files, and have Outlook find the one with data???

Hi Brian...

Similar, but it didn't cover it... I'm gonna post some screen grabs of the
problem and see if that helps get a solution... Thanks, Caby

This is a very common problem that has been addressed here countless times.
You have corrupted your Outlook Address Book Service. We don't know how
because you haven't told us. We don't even know what Outlook version you are
using. If you can't find one of the many posts here that answer your
question, then at least provide us the courtesy of posting enough
information to help you.

First, the "Outlook Address Book" entry in the Address Book view will never
contain contacts, only references to contacts folders, just like you see.
The fact you see a "Contacts" entry that contains nothing indicates a
corrupt Outlook Address Book service. You should fix your Outlook Address
Book service to remove the first bogus Contacts entry. Exactly how depends
on Outlook version. For OL 2002/2003, it's ToolsE-mail AccountsView or
change existing directories or address booksNext, select the OAB service,
click Change, and delete the first entry. Stop and restart Outlook. For
Outlook 2007, click ToolsAccount Settings, and select the Address Book tab.
The rest of the process is similar.

Second, don't expect contacts to appear when you begin typing in the To
field. That doesn't reference your Contacts in any way. It's just a memory
of the last 2,000 addresses you've entered in a recipient field. It might
be a contact, or it might be an address you've typed manually. If you have
used an address before and it doesn't appear in a drop-down list when you
begin typing, that's an indication of a broken mail profile. Create a new
one. That will also fix the Outlook Address Book service, if you create the
account properly and point it at your existing mail store.
