Using Outlook Categories

Same topic new question: I have looked at the categories in Outlook 2003 and
have played with it a bit. I have also been through available material to
learn the operation.

I want to take my existing Distribution List and divide it into four
separate lists by using categories.

I must be dense but have bits and pieces of information but have not been
successful so . . . plain and simple . . . how do I accomplish this task?

Create categories for your distribution list:

Category "Mail A-H", "Mail I-M", etc. Add them to your master category
list.

For future reference, please post all follow-ups to the same thread so folks
can follow your thinking and problem.

I had no problems creating the categories. The problem is moving the contacts
from the main list into each of the new categories. So far I get the whole
main list into categories. Then a time or two when I deleted the new
category, I also deleted the main list (thank God for backups). I need to
move 40 contacts at a time from the main list to its appropriate category and
eventially delete the main list (if possible).

So I must apologize . . . I just don't understand the process or what I am
doing. What I have found on the Outlook Online Help and in OL Help Files
while informative have not penetrated my dense brain.
