Default How do I restore the default Contacts form in Outlook 2007?

My Outlook .pst became corrupted somehow and was automatically repaired by
the Inbox Repair tool. Unfortunately, my default contacts folder (now labeled
as "Recovered folder 8142") now displays as if it were a email folder. I
checked the Properties for this folder and for "When Posting to this folder,
use" field, "IPM.Post" is selected. I tried selecting "Forms..." and then
"Contacts" but I get an error message stating "You cannot create an item of
this type in this folder"

I'd first try starting Outlook once with the /resetfolders command switch. If
that didn't work, I'd create a new PST, copy from the old to the new what I
could, then see if a third-party tool could help to recover the misconfigured
entries. This spot looks promising: http://www.contactgenie.com/

#1 - Sounds like your default PST file is more then a little messed up if
your default contacts folder is no longer a "contact's" folder.
#2 - Similar to Brian's advice (but not exactly) would be to
a) create a new PST file
b) make it the new default for the profile (default InBox)
c) create a new contact folder - (ergo - a different folder than
the default Contact folder that will be created once you complete step b)
d) copy all the contacts from the original PST file contacts
folder (recovered folder 8142 to be exact) to the contact folder created in
Step c)
e) if all goes according to plan - the items copied in step d)
will open up as mail items

#3 - Once step#2d is complete - use either one of the following 2 free
programs to change the message class to IPM.Contact in the contact folder
created in step 2c) which should contain all the contacts from
"recovered folder 8142"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
ContactGenie Message Class Modifier

DocMessageClass

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

#4 - Once you have step #3 completed - copy all the contacts to the
default contact folder automatically created in step 2b)
#5 - You should be back to normal as far as contacts go
#6 - Copy all other required folders from original PST to the new default
PST (i.e. Inbox, Sent items - whatever it is that you want to/can keep)
#7 - When finished Step #6 - close your original PST file - you're done with
it.

Before anyone asks....

Q. Why go thru the exercise of step 2d) instead of copying the contacts
immediately to the new default contacts folder from 2b)?
A. Just a precaution to make sure all your contacts are ok before moving
them to the default contact folder - no other reason and not technically not
required

Q. Why not run Step #3 on the "Recovered Folder 8142"?
A. It's not a "contact" folder.
