Distribution List inserts old email addresses in email address lin

I have a distribution list with about 30 names. All these names are also
contacts. From time to time I need to update the email address of some of the
contacts on this list. First I update the contact information. When I look
at the list of contacts in my distribution list I see the updated email
address. However, when I send an email to the list, the old, deleted,
address is inserted into the address line. I have tried deleting the contact
from the list, clicking on update, and closing the list. Then I add the
contact fresh. The same thing happens. The list displayed when I click on
the distribution list shows the correct information, which is the information
in the contact record. But when I create an email the old, deleted,
information is inserted. How can I clear this up? I don't understand why
Outlook keeps sending emails using old information when I see the updated
information in the contact record. This is an important distribution list
and it is causing problems that new members are not getting emails, and other
emails are bouncing back because they are being sent to obsolete addresses.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I appreciate any help in clearing this up.

Is the address saved in the autocomplete list? if you see the DL name as you
begin to type it, select it with the arrow keys and press Del.

The names that are being inserted incorrectly do not appear in the
autocomplete list. The addresses that appear in the address line no longer
exist in my contact information. Yet Outook keeps inserting these old
addresses.

Distribution List inserts old email addresses in email address

Diane,

I just realized that you were asking me if the list name came up in the
autocomplete list. It was. I deleted it from the autocomplete list. Then I
opened the distribution list and clicked on the create email icon. The list
addresses were correct.

Thank you for the solution. I didn't realize that the autocomplete list was
saving the individual addresses in my distribution list, which apparently it
was. This has been driving me crazy. Thanks again.

Distribution List inserts old email addresses in email address lin

Hello,

I understand how this is happening, however, I do not understand why
this is happening? Could anyone explain why this is doing this and why
it does not automatically update the autocomplete with the new
distribution list information and is there a different way around this
without deleting the entry out of the autocomplete?

-Thanks

The autocomplete list is flat list of addresses. Older ones will be
deleted when you hit 2000 addresses, but its not smart enough to see
that you have two with the same name and replace the new one with the
old one. It keeps both addresses and eventually the old one might age
off due to non-use.
