Problem adding address book
Hello,
I am trying to add an additional address book or folder (not sure how structured) to my existing Outlook contacts book. When I go through the Email accounts to do so and select the address book type as Outlook I get an error message saying "This account or directory type already exists and cannot be specified twice." So I create a personal address book and try to convert to Outlook address book and/or try to designate it as an email address book but can't find where to do so. I'm not that adept with Outlook and the OL documentation didn't seem to be too helpful. Can anyone tell me how I can add my new address book to the Outlook address book folder? Thanks, Van |

Thanks, Van I don't know from your post where or what EXACTLY you are doing - Outlook doesn't use Addressbooks or PABs - at least not since Outlook 2002. In Outlook do File-New-Folder and in the drop-down box under "Folder Contains" change to Contact Items. -- Asking a question? Message is correct. You can only have one address service in your Outlook
profile and wouldn't need more. You can add any folder you want to that service by enabling it as an electronic address book in its properties. Plenty of documentation: http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "VanS" wrote in message ... Hello Russ,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I had seen that article and tried that but was not able to find my file or folder to change the properties. As said I am not highly adept at Outlook. What I did was create a pab address book since I couldn't create another Outlook one. But I was having a problem on how to convert it to an Outlook folder then do as your article suggested. Is that the correct way to create a folder (create a pab) and then convert it, or is there some other method? I have Outlook 2003. Thanks again, regards, Van "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Message is correct. You can only have one address service in your Outlook profile and wouldn't need more. No. PAB is obsolete and should never be used. Why you cannot follow the
instructions I posted remains a mystery. You'll need to. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "VanS" wrote in message ... Hello Russ, Thanks for your reply.
