when I try to add to my address book it tell me I need to reinstall and has
wiped out all my contacts.

Provide a clearer and more accurate description of what you are trying to do
and why you think "all your Contacts are wiped out."
You never use the address book view to enter or edit Contact data. You use
your Contacts Folder. Is it your claim that your Contacts Folder was emptied
all by itself?
