Sending custom form item as mail attachment to person outside org
We are using Outlook 2003 and Exchange server 2003. We are using a custom
form for task items in a public folder on the exchange server. We also need to occasionally send a task item to one of our outside reps (who is also using Outlook 2003) and have them be able to view the item in the custom form. Here is what we did. 1. Saved custom form as .oft template. 2. Sent above .oft file as attachment to rep in the field with instructions to open it up, then publish it to their Personal Forms Library, which they did. 3. Then open email with attached task item. But when the rep opened the attached task, it did not display in the custom form. What are we missing here? Thanks for any hints you can pass our way. Doug |

Did the rep publish the form with the exact same Message Class as that used by the item?

Yes, the exact same name as the Message Class. Thanks,

I should also point out that I have tested the above steps on a local
computer to validate the rep's results and had the same results. One other thing - when I open the attached .oft file on my system, it opens as the custom form. When I open the attached .oft file on the receipients computer, it appears as a standard task form? Wierd? Not weird at all if the rep is running Outlook 2003 SP2 and you're not. That would, in fact, be expected behavior for an .oft file in that version.
