How do I use controls in Outlook forms
I'm creating a Task request form in Outlook 2003SP2. I add a control from
the controls toolbar (radio button, check box, etc). I go to Form - Run this form and enter some data in the control, send the form. The form is received, but the data I entered does not come with the form. The info entered in the radio button, check box, text field, etc does not show up upon receipt. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? |
How do I use controls in Outlook forms
If you want Outlook to save the data that the user enters through the control, you must tell it *where* to put the data, specifically what field you want to use to store it. THis is done on the Value tab of the control's Properties dialog, at the top where you'll see Choose Field and New buttons.

This task is going to be for a new PC build request, so the fields will all be custom (ex. Full Name, OS, checkboxes for various available software packages, etc). If I select 'New' and create custom fields, will these move with the form when I send it to the exchange server? Is there a maximum number of custom fields I can create? Thanks again for the help! How do I use controls in Outlook forms
Fields that have data in them will transmit quite nicely within an Exchange environment. The one thing to keep in mind is that, if you want the person receiving the message to be able to see the custom fields, you'll need to publish the form to the Organizational Form library or to all recipients' Personal Forms library./
