Adding documents to a contact

Hi,

we want to add documents to a custom field in a contact. This works in the
standard notes field of the contact but not in our custom text fields,
because the add buttons to insert elements and objects are deselected.

Is it possible to do this with a custom field. Should I change the field type?

No, the message/notes body must be present for the user to be able to add attachments and is the only control that can display the attachments.
