Default Registering custom url protocol handler that Outlook recognizes

Good afternoon,

as mentioned in my post on the .outlook group (http://
groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.outlook/browse_thread/thread/
846c9a468f27a5ec), I am having trouble.. using a custom URI protocol
in outlook. A custom protocol declaration works perfectly fine on the
system (explorer etc), but outlook doesn't 'recognize' them (as it
would with http:// etc etc). Is there a way (outlook add-in would be
fine) to add this functionality myself?

Outlook will only recognize those namespaces that it was coded for. I don't
know of any way to make it recognize something else.
