anyone know how to auto-send email alerts prior to an event

lotus notes allows a pop-up note/sound, as well as a standard email
announcing a calendar event? can Outlook do the same, or only launch a sound
at a point prior to the event?

I have an outlook form that works, the only problem is that the user gets the
form and I would like to have only the input fields in the body and not the
