I don't know if the message is spurious or not.

As it turned out, I was having a couple of other weird problems with MS
Access, so I ran a Detect and Repair on Microsoft Office and now...

no longer produces a compile error.

However, when this code runs:

where it works under the same release of Outlook and Access.
