Dear Frank and Peter,
Yes, i'm sure the splash screen also says OE "6". The about tab says
OE 6 also. I haven't set up an account so far that's why i don't have
any DBX files. Also "Show hidden...

Never had that issue in W2k or other XP SP2 machines but now i have.

When i try to launch Outlook Express from start menu or from its own
folder, i get "Outlook express could not be started,...

My official XP Home SP2 which came with the latest drivers in my Acer
Aspire notebook, frequently freezes after logging into OS
successfully.

Desktop and system tray icons are loaded successfully....
