I am using putty to make a localhost proxy actually. It would work if I use
the -L option to specifcally map a route to the mailserver from the server
end of the proxy, but it's so cumbersome to...

I've been looking for a way to make a new POP3 or IMAP account in my Outlook
2003 to always go through a localhost SOCKS proxy. I can't seem to find any
good reading about it.
