Editing contacts in card view

In Outlook 2003, is there a way to preventing editing contacts in CARD or
DETAILED CARD view?

Ahh. That makes perfect sense. We did find a work-around. We complete the
search and then select the contacts and copy them to a new contact folder.

Can you tell me why that is? We need ways to sort contacts for different
mailings without using several different contact folders. Is there a disign
reason for this?
