Default Talking to Outlook 2007 from SharePoint

All,

I have been tasked to create a SharePoint 2007 webpart that will talk
to Outlook 2007 to get the current count of items within the Outlook
2007 inbox. I have written several Outlook 2007 add-in, however I am
unsure what approach to take to perform the above task. Does Outlook
2007 have web services? Or does Exchange 2007 have web services to
obtain the needed information?

Does anyonne know where I can find a GOOD reference that will outline
web services associated with Outlook 2007 or Exchange 2007? I have
looked for an SDK associated with Outlook 2007 or Exchange 2007 and
don't seem to find one - can someone point me in the right direction
to find the current SDK?

Thanks for your time.

Outlook has no web services, but Exchange 2007 does. Exchange documentation starts at http://msdn.microsoft.com/exchange/ with discussions in the microsoft.public.exchange.development newsgroup or on the Web at http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...=838&SiteID=17 .
