Default How do I stop the date appearing double?

I went into Calendar Options to see what 'options' were available. I changed
the beginning week day to Sunday (default Monday). This did not work BUT
instead I now have the date appearing TWICE in the day headers of the Desk
Top calendar view of and it also prints with the Weekday or Month appearing
twice.
