Default Shared Calendars

Hello,

I would like to share calendars between 5 people. I know that Outlook works
great when you're using exchange server, but what about when you're using
POP3? If not, is there another program that anyone knows about / likes for
sharing calendars? I have Microsoft Server 2003. Thanks!

POP3 only deals with email. You would need some other solution to sync/share
the contacts and appointments but I don't really have any suggestions for
that.

However, I highly recommend you investigate Exchange Server. You don't even
have to host it yourself. There are plenty of low-cost Exchange Server
hosting companies with no minimums.

Here's one: http://www.mailstreet.com (I have no affiliation with them)

Hi Melissa,

Outlook normally can not share all items or PST files without Exchange
Server.

There are some alternatives (2rd party solutions) available.

On this site is an article on various ways to share Outlook data:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...477571033.aspx

Messaging solution on Microsoft Office Marketplace:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ma...719621033.aspx

A list of a list of third-party sharing tools is also on this site:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.htm

ZDNet UK recommend this tool:

Hi Jasy,

sorry but the program that you recommend is (for me) not a real sharing
solution because it synchronize items via email like the freeware solution
netfolders, so it is a synchronization tool not a sharing tool.

NetFolders is no more supported by Microsoft because this technology was to
incorrectly.

We have central shared 18 PST files with 25GB space and I think this will be
to much email traffik to synchronize this via email and at last: Not we
search for a solution (we developed our own software), Melissa search for a
solution. ;-)

Hi Jasy,

thank you for your response.

Another problem (for me) that we have with "sync programs" like netfolders
is the less security. If you would get a virus on one computer, this virus
will be synchronized to all integrated clients.

The time difference for the entries will be also a problem for us and that
this solutions woulnd´t have a "record locking" if 2 or more users would
open the same items.
