When I send a calendar item from Outlook to my Nokia 6230i it converts to GMT
between Outlook and my phone. As I am in Australia this means that
appointments turn up 11 hours too early - often on the previous day! How do
I fix this?

Check with your synchronization software - it is not an Outlook problem but a problem when it hits your phone.
