Default why do some entries show start and end times of scheduled appoint.

I am using Windows XP environment. Some of my appointments show the start
and end times as you view the calendar (ie. not as you enter the
appointment). I would like all my appointments to show the start and end
times but the system seems to determine which ones show it and which dont.
Please can anyone help?
