Default Different Time on my OS and Outlook Time Zone w/DST.

I'm using XP-SP2, Outlook 2002 client based, linux mail server.

I have applied my OS DST change, WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-ENU.exe, Outlook
calendar tzmove.exe patch and my linux OS patch.

When I receive emails from Outlook, the time stamp is 1 hour ahead of the OS
time. This does not affect when I use the webmail, linux based. But when I
send myself test mails from any webmails, Outlook adds another hour to it.

I’ve already check the Calendar Options Time zones, Tools --Options --
Calendar Options -- Time zone, and it is pointing to my correct zone; EST
with Adjust DST.

HOWEVER, the current time shown below it is 1 hour ahead. If I uncheck the
DST there , it affects the OS time by moving it 1 hour behind of actual time.

For example, OS time 10:00AM EST w/DST, in Outlook Time Zone it is 11:00AM
although it's EST w/DST too. What gives?

I even did the manual update, TZedit.exe, and it is setup to correct
setting; 2nd March @2AM, 1st Nov @2AM, DST +1 hr.

Rebooted the Outlook, OS, and issue still exist.

I checked Microsoft, and all I found is relating to the tzmove.exe update;
which only talks about the Calendar moving tasks, etc.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

As was noted in your earlier thread on the same subject, the servers are
not configured properly. If you look at the mail headers they have the
time as 14:43 -0500 when it should be 14:43 -0400. Someone just manually
advanced the clock on the server.

I did see that too, and yes I understand what you said. However, how come
when I use Mozilla mail client I don't have that issue? The header's for the
Mozilla and Outlook are the same.

10.2.4.3 IP is our SMTP relay and it is Windows 2000 SP4 which I used
TZedit.exe Update tool to change the time. I've rebooted the server last
night, not right after I update the region settings. Still receiving 1 hour
ahead with Outlook.

Do you think I need to change the time of our firewall too? I don't see why
that would create the issue though.

Thank you.

I suspect Outlook is doing something stupid with the headers.
Thunderbird will just use the Date: header to display the date, but MS
has a propensity to do thing like try and guess a "better" way to do
things. I don't know if that's what's happening here or not, but the
evidence points in that direction.

We are seeing issues when tsedit is used. Along with rebooting, yew need to
change the TZ to another then put it back on the right one.

Default Different Time on my OS and Outlook Time Zone w/DST.

Hi again,

I'm still having this issue. I've done what you suggested, change the TZ
to another time zone, then put it back to the correct time zone, then I
rebooted it. Outlook is still adding 1 hour to any received emails.

I'm not the only that are having this issue.

In Outlook Calendar Time zone settings - Tools - Options - Calendar
Options - Time zone - Adjust for Daylight Saving Time is checked and
Current time is 1 hour AHEAD of the OS time!.

If I uncheck the "Adjust for DST" it will reflect the OS time by changing
it to 1 hour back.

Please advise, this is driving me crazy. Doesn't Microsoft have any update
on this?

Where could I send this issue to Microsoft for a patch ?

which version of outlook? it uses the same time as a the os but older
versions occasionally get out of sync - changing the time zone settings in
outlook usually brings them back into sync. What DST setting is the OS set
for?

I've found the issue. It was the mail server that had not been updated
properly with DST change.

Thank you for your assistance everyone.
