Default Problem with meeting request: required/optional setting

Hi All
Customer sent out a meeting request to several persons. Some were flagged
required attendee some as optional.

Problem: all invited persons received the invitation as a required
attendee even those who were flagged as optional.

Any idea on how something like that can happen?
Thanks
