Default Corrupt calendar file

I just installed Outlook 2003 from CD to a newer computer that I recently
purchased. When I opened Outlook's calendar, however, it shows the views
needed (day, week, etc.), but has the properties of the contacts file (even
to where the "new" entries can be made--they are contacts, not appointments).
I have been able to create a calendar copy and import my calendar, so I have
a working calendar, but I cannot delete the other (original) calendar
(essential element), nor do I know how to fix the file association or
whatever the problem is.

You don't describe how you created or transferred the PST containing the
folders. Have yuo tryied the /resetfolders command line switch?

Thanks for the post Brian. I had a system failure with this computer, but was able to do a recovery. However, all files were wiped out. Prior to that happening, I exported my calendar, contacts, and inbox (each to a separate PST). When I got the computer recovered, and reinstalled Office/Outlook, I imported each of those PSTs back into Outlook. The inbox and contacts work fine, but the calendar did not.

I'm not familiar with the "reset folders command line switch" piece, if you
could be more specific with how to do that.

Brian--thanks again for your help. I figured it out. It was a bad .dat file
or the outlook file itself. I closed Outlook after using it a few moments
ago, but after looking for the 'resest folder" part you talked about. I found
an outlook pst and calendar pst within the outlook folder on my computer, as
well as dat file. I deleted all 3 (as I had backups for the rest as I stated)
and the problem is solved.
