Default Displaying Appointments

How if at all possible, can we eliminate the bubble look from the calendar. I
was hoping to have each appointment start with the time and then most if not
all of the meeting subject.

Thanks

Bill

We don't know what you are looking at or ever which version you have. Let's
start there.

Sorry. I thought this forum was specific to Office 2007.

Basically the new display in Outlook 2007 calender is a bit different from
the 2003 version. These are clean installs of the Office 2007 suite. I was
looking to see more details in the calendar on this new version. I have
tried all of the general settings but cannot get it to show the starting time
for each appointment and then the subject. The appointments now appear in
cartoon bubbles without showing the start time.

Thanks

Bill

I can't find it either! Do you remember where the setting was on older
versions? If it was in a Calendar setting area, I reckon it's gone on 2007.

Check that you're on the View Day/week/month with autopreview as it give a
bit more data.

I have been running into this problem as well after upgrading to Outlook
2007 from 2003. Here is what I was able to discover through
experimentation:

Outlook 2007 introduced a new look to the calendar that makes appointments
look better (bubbles - woohoo!) at the expense of a few pixels of screen
real estate. It just so happens that this real estate is important for
folks running on a 1024 x 768 resolution display (the most common resolution
right now) because there is no longer enough space in each bubble to display
both the appointment time and the subject. Outlook apparently has special
logic that makes appointment times disappear when there is not enough space.

There are several solutions to this problem. You can shrink the navigation
pane on the left side to leave more room for the monthly view. I don't like
this solution because it clips the navigation calendar controls. You can
choose a smaller text font for the monthly view by right-clicking on the
calendar and choosing Other Settings. (I found that 8pt Microsoft Sans
Serif works fairly well.) You could also choose to go with a larger screen
resolution if your monitor and eyes support it.

Personally, I found it annoying that a stylistic change would impact
usability (i.e. missing times). Ultimately I went with a larger screen
resolution to be able to see the times and as much of the subject as
possible. My suggestion for the Outlook team would be to (1) give back some
of the pixels by making the bubbles bigger and reducing horizontal spacing
between them and (2) to add a checkbox to the Format Day/Week/Month View
dialog to explicitly show or not show times in the appointment labels. Get
rid of the sizing logic that makes times appear and disappear.
