Default Calendar in archive folders opens instead of my current calender

I have 2 related issues ......

A) When My Outlook 2003 tries to open a pop up box appears and asks me
for a personal folders password. I recently saved a new PST file, to
install a copy on my new laptop. I do not believe I created a
password. I can cancel out of the pop up screen, and outlook opens.

B) However, when Personal Folders - Outlook Today opens it opens to
the wrong calendar. Instead of my current calendar opening, the
default is Calendar in archive folders (1). I can click on the current
calendar box, and deselect the Calendar in archive folders (1) on the
left panel and that seems to open the correct calendar option.

CLick ToolsE-mail AccountsNext. Examine the "Deliver new e-mail to the
following location" drop-down at the lower left. I suspect it points to
your Archive PST. Change it to reference the PST you wish and restart
Outlook.

Thanks for getting back to me as quickly as you did. I truly
appreciate your attentiveness.

It is currently defaulting to Personal Folders. And the comment is
Mail delivery location. So this looks correct unless im not seeing
something
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data
\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

One of the other PST files is the recent file that I created. C:
\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft
\Outlook\lbb outlook pst8-1-07.pst. This one requests a password. And
most likely the culprit - what I don't understand is why it says its
using 1 pst file and then requesting the password for another. a
bigger issue is that ive been using this PST file for 2 months and Im
concerned that if I change pst files that all my calendar dates and
schedule will get deleted.

Is there a way that I can speak to you over the phone? I don't think
it will take long, I just want to make sure im doing this correctly. I
could also show you screan grabs if you can provide me with an email
address.

thanks again

Lonny

I'm also concerned about it synching the wrong file to my PDA.

If the delivery location is correct, the PDA will get the correct data.

1) How do I remove the - PST Password pop up request window?

SOmetimes when a PST has been damaged, it will request a password. There
are password removal tools available in the INternet and Google should be
able to find them for you. You may find a free one, but if you do, make
sure it handles Unicode PSTs.

2) How do I make my current calendar the default and deselect the
archive folder (1)?

See above.

3) Which Archive folder do I keep the original archive or archive
folder (1) -where is it?

Click FileData File Management to see paths for PSTs open in your mail
profile. See ToolsOptionsOtherAutoArchive to read the path for the
current archive PST.

4) Why / How do I delete the incorrect archive folder ?

I'd say there's no such thing as an "incorrect" archive because Outlook can
use multiple archive PSTs simultaneously. In the extreme, you can have a
separate archive PST for each folder.

Open the Mail applet in Control Panel and click the Data Files button.
What's listed there?

Sorry. That's not going to happen.

While the address with which I post here is a valid address, it would be
better for you to put your screen shots on one of the many free
image-hosting sites that are available and then post a URL to those shots
here. http://picasaweb.google.com/ is one such site, but there are plenty
of others.

Hi Brian

I was able to resolve these problems when we spoke.

I received an update from MS Office and installed it before the
weekend - this morning i received am archive request box that I
approved.

However when outlook tried to load, I have a similar problem and cant
I went back to the PST files and located the one ive been using, Now
the same prob exists, "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office
Outlook could not access the specified folder location" - the personal
folder - when i click on the PST file it asks what program I want to
open the file with and nothing seems to work
Can you please advise me again?

Thanks Lonny

You cannot use Windows Explorer to open a PST. You will need to open the
mail profile using the Mail applet in Control Panel and correct the
reference to the PST there.
