I have been a long time user of Outlook and have been using this 2007 version
since around February of this year. Several days ago, the rectangular
"buttons" on the left side below the tree (Mail, Calender, Contacts) sort of
stopped working in that when I select Calender and go back to Mail, the main
right hand preview panel continues to display the calender and the item
"Calender" in the tree on the left is highlighted - only when I use the mouse
to click on "Inbox" at the tree, would I be able to view my Mail items. I
have no idea what that was the case and, while trying to "fix" it, I had
inadvertently gone way down on the tree to the Archive Folder section, right
clicked on the Archive Calender, and deleted it from the pop up menu when I
right clicked on Archive Calender.

Outlook is ESSENTIAL for me. Everything I do is on it to keep me on track.
The Calender is important for me as it is almost a diary for me to remember
what I did years ago - quite effective for me. May I kindly as the good folks
here how I might be able to retrieve my Archive Calender? The item on the

shade of color to differentiate from the "regular" current calender. I can

the Archive Calendar once deleted will be in the Deleted Items folder of the
Archive. Use the Folder List view of the Navigation Pain and you should see
all folders and the hierarchical structure of them.

Drag it from the Deleted Items folder to the Archve folder and it will be
fine.

I followed your suggestion and went over to the Deleted items IN THE
ARCHIVES area but there, I only saw deleted mail items because the tree on
the left only shows up when I’m using the “Mail� button on the bottom left.
When I use the “Calender�, the tree disappears and I only see a month by
month calendar (like a wall calendar where it says January, February…).

I re-read your post and I do not quite understand what you meant by “…use

and the hierarchical structure of them.� I don’t know how to get to the
“Folder List view� even though I’ve attempted to go to the “View� at the top
next to File and Edit.

I suspect that should I have the “know how� to follow exactly what you asked

To see the FOLDER LIST on the left in the Navigation Pain you click it at
the bottom of the Navigation Pain. There are lots of little buttons in the
bottom left corner of Outlook, one of those looks like a Folder.

Hi Judy, i just did that. i clicked the tiny little yellow folder at the
very bottom of the Navigation area. there are 3 tiny icons: Yellow Note,
Yellow Folder, and a Return arrow.

i clicked the Deleted Items (just under the Archive Folders) and clicked the
Yellow tiny folder icon at the very bottom. I do not see anything under
Deleted Items.

What I do see is this:

-Archive Folders
-Deleted Items
Slim Device (this is a yellow folder and is empty inside)
Drafts
+Inbox
Journal
Junk E-mail
Notes
Outbox


Judy, what am I doing wrong? I'm sorry I look like such a klutz! I am
trying hard to follow your directions but I am unable to "see" the Calender
just to the right hand side when I highlight the Deleted Items on the tree.
Just to the right, shouldn't it be the expanded items of the highlighted item
on the tree? In this case, it is Deleted items but all i see are emails
and an occasional calender item, i.e. someone's birthday that i deleted.

What might I be doing incorrectly? Thanks for your patience again!

Hi Judy, thx for your latest suggestion. i went there to read carefully
but do not fully comprend what "command line" is. i'm totally dependent on
Outlook and it is almost like a diary for me. every day's activities are
"run" by Outlook - from my calender, to all my contacts, to all my key email.
it is a huge loss for me to have "lost" (at least so far, hope it is not
irretrievable or irreversible) my older calender!

when i went to that link you kindly provided, it concerned me that it said
that that would reset my user profile. i'm the only one using this computer
as well as Outlook. Small home office here. i'm quoting the relevant
portion for convenience here from that link:

Clears and regenerates the Navigation Pane for the current profile.
Removes all Shortcuts and Favorite Folders. Has the same effect as deleting
profilename.xml in your user directory. "

i do not know what would happen to all of my emails, calender, contacts.
everything i run is on Outlook so it is of paramount importance that i do not
"suffer" greater loss (well, hopefully, my old calender items are not lost).
for example, i do not know how to "get out of" the command line thing
when done. i'm concerned about doing what appears to be rather technical
and not even know what to do when i'm finished!! sort of like: after i
type that in, then what do i do?

if i had someone on the phone, then i'd be more comfortable with each step
as there is an opportunity for iterative questioning and learning.

i hope that i'm making sense and sorry to be so detail-oriented. please
understand that this is very important to me.

the bottom of the Navigation Pain. There are lots of little buttons in
the
bottom left corner of Outlook, one of those looks like a Folder.

complete
this.

Drag it from the Deleted Items folder to the Archve folder and it will

As a related question, I'd like to ask how best to back up my
Outlook
(everything, including Calender, Mail, Contacts)? I do use Acronis
to
do
automatic back up but whenever i look at those Acronis "automatic
back
up"
files for Outlook, they do not look familiar (they have names like
2007_11_10..._.TIB). I do not know what ".TIB" files are and how to
really
"use them" to either open up or to view. When I had my Archive
Calender
still
visible on the tree, it was pretty easy whenever I needed to view
older
items: merely click on the words Archive Calender on the tree, then
the
right
hand side's Preview area would show the older items, sometimes in a
different
shade of color to differentiate from the "regular" current calender.
I
can
look for whatever event or appointment, then close it and go about
my
daily
business.

Sorry for combining 2 different issues in one post, but they are
quite
inter-related. (Accidentally deleting Archive Calender - how to
retreive
it?
And, how to effectively back up Outlook 2007 - everything, from
Calender,
to
Contacts, and Mail).
