Default Do we need to be running exchange server for shared calendars etc

At present we are running muicrosoft small business server 2003 and exchange
server with facilities to share various calendars. Do we need to be running
exchange server for shared calendars or is there another way? What we want
to do is stop using exchange server and have all our e-mails hosted by one
company.

if you don't use exchange, you need another server - see
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.asp

exchange should be doing everything - you don't need mail hosted outside -
and even if you decided to keep it outside, you could easily configure
exchange to handle both the outside mail and calendars seamlessly.
