I don't normally use Outlook, but was forced into using it recently as
a hub for syncing my contacts and calendars with several other things I actually do use, the newest being an iPhone (using the Apple MobileMe service, which doesn't support syncing with any Windows stuff other than Outlook). In doing this (and I still have unresolved issues with getting the Outlook - MobileMe sync to work, but that's probably Apple's problem and unrelated to this issue I'm discussing here) I noticed a problem where the events in calendars imported from other places were getting shifted forward one hour. Looking in old groups and web sites, I see lots of similar problems in the past, often related to daylight saving time and time zone shifts. In my attempts to fix it, I went to the configuration (Tools menu Options Calendar Time Zone), but saw on that screen that my time zone was set correctly (US Eastern time, automatic daylight saving time shift), but where it displays the current time underneath this, it shows it one hour ahead; like, at 10:30 AM it says 11:30 AM instead. The time in the taskbar in the lower right shows correctly (10:30 AM), with the right time zone settings when I click on it. I'm using Windows XP with the Outlook (2002?) that came bundled with my system (Dell). Is there some patch or service pack, not installed in the automatic Windows updates, that I need to install? -- Dan |
