Default How do I stop meetings from getting recurring status assigned?

I often will get meetings that I set up show up with a recurring status that
I never assigned. I'm suspicious that it happens when I edit meetings in the
past, but haven't noticed a pattern. How can I turn this annoying recurrance
off?
