I have an HP Hx4705 PDA with Outlook2002 for Pocket PC2003SE and I use the
handwriting in Notes feature for appointments made with the Calendar. After I synchronize, I cannot see my notes on Exchange2003 or Outlook2003SP2 clients. Am I screwed? |

So far, this is what I have come up with regarding this featu
1. With Outlook2003SP2 using an Exchange2003SP2 Server synchronizing with the PPC2003SE version of Calendar if the PDA is set to synch directly with the server - you will not see the hand written notes appear on anything but the PDA. 2. With the same configuration listed above, modify the PDA to synchronize with only the computer - and not multiple computers, but ONLY one - You will see the handwritten notes as you saved them on the PDA within the Calendar section of Outlook for each appointment that notes were created. 3. With any combination of settings there are no statements indicating that handwritten notes on your PDA will or will not be viewable on an Outlook2003 client. (I do not use the conversion process due to time constraints... I am a Small Business Computer Consultant and my notes are regarding the issues onsite - used for billing and research - which have been unsuccessfully converted 100% of the time during trial runs... but thank you for the suggestion - it was the most logical step.) So, for now it would appear that this thread is resolved - sorta. I believe that one of two things should occur: 1. Microsoft resolve the issue with direct synchronization (unless MS Mobile has fixed this) to Exchange2003 and losing the handwritten notes. 2. A 'note' section be added to the options window during the ActiveSync 4.1 configuration when choosing the calendar, tasks, and email option synchronization to Exchange indicating that handwritten notes will be excluded from the server. Microsoft, you truly are amazing. Thank you again for being the organization you are still becoming - and for allowing so many people the opportunity to help. Your humble servant... I haven't tried it, but perhaps that would help. -- Brian Tillman |
