I'm using Outlook 2007 in a standalone setup (e.g. I'm not using exchange).
When I make an appointment of any kind I assign it to a category and I also invite my wife so the entry will also appear on her PC in her Outlook 2007. When she downloads her email one of the items is the invite from me. When she accepts it appears on her calendar but it no longer has the category I assigned to it (it does not have any category assoicated with it). Is there anything I can do so the category I assigned to it will also be reflected in her calendar without any action on her part? Along with the category I want the same color assigned to it. |

No, categories are specific to the machine on which they are shown. You
cannot impose your categories/colors on someone else's calendar. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. ALWAYS post your Outlook version. Milly, if I set up the same categories on both PCs when I create an
appointment and send it to my wife will it appear on her PC as I see it on my PC, e.g. would the catagory and color then be honored? |

I haven't checked because I'm not at my Outlook 2007 system right now, but I believe Outlook 2007 installs by default with a rule that removes categories on incoming messages. I don't know if this contributes to what you're seeing. Someone else can confirm. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

There is such a rule. Note that even if she clears the rule, she'll only
get the categories, not the colors the sender assigned to them. She'll need to assign the color herself. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. ![]() Additionally to the rule which clears by default categories on incoming e-mails, OL07 doesn't send categories at all. For getting that behaviour back you need to add an entry to your registry. Here's a downloadable *.reg file that does that for you: http://www.vboffice.net/workshop.htm...d=showitem#t16 -- Best regards Michael Bauer - MVP Outlook : Outlook Categories?
