We use Outlook 2003 and
Exchange server in your environment. When sending the meeting request
within different color Label, the recipient cannot see the color for the
Label in the meeting request that I set.

When I test the same thing without Exchange Server (send the meeting request
via internet to a other outlook user) on other Computers it is the same
result.

Is this feature a special Exchenge feature and if yes, do we have a problem
with our Exchenge server?

The missing color is a new problem since we had to transport the hole server
in a new environment, also a new domain. After all, something is wrong with
Outlook. Mail is fine, but when I send a meeting invitation to other users
the labeling (red for important, green for privat, blue for business ...) is
not be transmitted.

All the years it worked fine with right color label in the meeting request
at my recipients.

Are the recipients using the same version of outlook?
Do they have rules set up to remove labels?

I don't recall any Exchange 2003 updates that would affect it, but that is a
possibility.

Hello Diane,

Yes, clients have the same version of outlook. Maybe Service Pack is
different.
I dont know if they have rules to remove labels. I dont know such a rule.

The only rule you can do is to remove labels on incomming mails. This rule
means a other label from the mail directly.

The label in my opinion is in the calender.
When you get a meeting invitation via mail you can press the button "Apply".
So you get automatically a calender entry.
The label "holiday" in this calender entry in color gray I mean.

Hi Wind,

thanks for your reply.
Ok, same behavior at you. I think it is a problem in which way the calendar
request is "saved".

You can test it yourself. When you make a new calendar entry and give it a
color , perhaps red for important, and then save as *.msg

Then open *.msg and you see the color.
When you make it with a meeting request there is no color in the saved file.

Perhaps this can help the developer team.

Yes, it is the same environment. The office is selled to a other company. So
we had to change all Mail addresses and the Damain for the Exchange Server.
After that everything works fine, exept color at meeting invitation.

Hi Diane,

Yes same server and same version. We had to change IP config and the way
emails go out.
After that all works fine only meeting request.

I posted the problem in the Partner Online Portal with name "Meeting
Invitation: labeling is not be transmitted". There a technican wrote it is a
problem by design. He touched the case to developer team. Perhaps you can
read the entries?

Can You test if there is color at your meeting request at your recipients?

I also testet it with Outlook 2007. It is the same problem. I think it is a
problem with outlook itself.
But bevore we change something at the server it worked fine!

It is by design in newer versions - they are trying to reduce "object spam"
where people use reminders, flags etc to get the recipients attention. But
if it worked before and only the domain name changed, it should still work.
If you changed server versions or outlook versions, then it is to be
expected.

Hi Diane,

it is not only in newer versions. I tested it with 2002, 2003 and 2007.
Always the same problem. In version 2000 there is no feature for label, so it
can not work.

Is this feature a special Exchenge feature and if yes, do we have
a
problem

Default meeting invitation

Labels are not included on meeting requests.

Also note that Outlook 2007 does not have labels either. It has color
categories - the colors are set by each user. The user will receive the
category but not the color you assigned to the category unless you do it
using a view.

(And to make it more confusing, Outlook 2003 had colored flags. )

Hi Diane,

it is not only in newer versions. I tested it with 2002, 2003 and 2007.
Always the same problem. In version 2000 there is no feature for label, so
it
can not work.

"Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote:

It is by design in newer versions - they are trying to reduce "object
spam"
where people use reminders, flags etc to get the recipients attention.
But
if it worked before and only the domain name changed, it should still
work.
If you changed server versions or outlook versions, then it is to be
expected.

Hi Diane,

Yes same server and same version. We had to change IP config and the
way
emails go out.
After that all works fine only meeting request.

I posted the problem in the Partner Online Portal with name "Meeting
Invitation: labeling is not be transmitted". There a technican wrote it
is
a
problem by design. He touched the case to developer team. Perhaps you
can
read the entries?

Can You test if there is color at your meeting request at your
recipients?

I also testet it with Outlook 2007. It is the same problem. I think it
is
a
problem with outlook itself.
But bevore we change something at the server it worked fine!

Hi Wind,

thanks for your reply.
Ok, same behavior at you. I think it is a problem in which way the
calendar
request is "saved".

You can test it yourself. When you make a new calendar entry and give
it
a
color , perhaps red for important, and then save as *.msg

Then open *.msg and you see the color.
When you make it with a meeting request there is no color in the
saved
file.

Perhaps this can help the developer team.

Yes, it is the same environment. The office is selled to a other
company.
So
we had to change all Mail addresses and the Damain for the Exchange
Server.
After that everything works fine, exept color at meeting
invitation.

Hello Diane,

Yes, clients have the same version of outlook. Maybe Service Pack
is
different.
I dont know if they have rules to remove labels. I dont know such a
rule.

The only rule you can do is to remove labels on incomming mails.
This
rule
means a other label from the mail directly.

The label in my opinion is in the calender.
When you get a meeting invitation via mail you can press the button
"Apply".
So you get automatically a calender entry.
The label "holiday" in this calender entry in color gray I mean.

Do they have rules set up to remove labels?

I don't recall any Exchange 2003 updates that would affect it,
but
that
is a
possibility.

The missing color is a new problem since we had to transport
the
hole
server
in a new environment, also a new domain. After all, something
is
wrong
with
Outlook. Mail is fine, but when I send a meeting invitation to
other
users
the labeling (red for important, green for privat, blue for
business
...)
is
not be transmitted.

All the years it worked fine with right color label in the
meeting
request
at my recipients.
