Default Format required for Excel import into Outlook 2002 Calendar?

I would like to efficiently import project summary project information into
Outlook Calendar. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the easiest way is to
export from Project to Excel and then import into Outlook. Ive tried this
but I haven't had any success. I get an error message complaining that I
haven't created any named ranges in Excel. Seems to me it should ask me to
do some mapping too or there should be a specific format that is required.
I've searched the documentation and the web site but can find nothing that
provides this.

You have to solve the named range problem first. Select all the data you want to import, then choose Insert | Name | Define and give the range a name. Save the .xls file and import in Outlook.
