Default Calendar appointments

We had the problem of inviting colleagues to appointments and the
problem of 2 people double booking their calendar before they could
accept. We gave access by sharing the calendars to a number of
individuals to book appointments and it worked fine. The only problem
is there is no automatic prompt into the inbox of the shared calendar
to notify the owner, a new appointment has been entered. Is there a
way to set this up?

No, not without programming. The only time the calendar owner is notified is
when a meeting request is sent. You could use VBA to pop up an alert or
send an email to notify the calendar owner.
