How can I use my calendar and other features wo using Outlook emai

How can I use my calendar and other features without using Outlook email? I could use the calendar on previous versions without setting up an email account. Why can't you? Set up Outlook, either without a mail profile at all (just read the dialogs, there are options to avoid creating mail) or by entering bogus information then later removing it. Outlook works well as a calendar, contact list and task list without email.
