I get email from a group called "Clean Power Now". When I try to read it it
almost immediately freezes my computer. This also happens if it is the last message in the preview pane. This happens to me on this old Dell running Win 98SE even if the email is forwarded to me by someone else that was able to read it fine. There does not appear to be anyone else but me that this happens to. The ZoneAlarm icon in the tray usually indicate that data is being sent both ways but nothing I do has any effect. Even after an hour the only thing I can do is reboot via a button. CtlAltDel does nothing. Any suggestions as to how to find out why this is happening? Is there a way to log what is happening that can be looked at after a reboot? Bill Snow |

If you want, send me the message as an attachment and I'll take a look at it
and see if I can figure out what's wrong. Usually its a formatting error by the sender, but I don't know what would make it crash. If you go to Tools | Options | Read and check to read messages in plain text only, does it still crash when you open it? steve "Bill Snow" wrote in message news:7CFXf.2949$kT4.271@fed1read02... I sent you an extensive message this AM that included the attachment you
requested but I don't see that it went through. I don't see any postings between early this AM up to around noon. Anyway here it is again. Oops, My faulty memory just clicked in. The message was in my Sent Items so have sent it. I tried a number of scenarios with one or both ZA and Symantec off or disabled but eventually it would freeze me out. But only if I had the cable modem on. In stand-by it took a while to load the 5 items except it would not display the last one. Hope some of this helps. Bill; Just checked and the earlier message still does not show up. Resent it without the attachment but Rich Text then Plain. At least one of them got through. How can I sent the attachment? If the message is now displaying okay, then its likely that one of those 3rd
party programs was the culprit. The images in the message you sent were linked to the website, so it could be something with the firewall settings or just the anti-virus and anti-spam software screwed with OE, as its known to do. The message itself lacked HTML tags and just started with the other tags, so it was malformed, but I don't think that was the problem. cheers, steve "Bill Snow" wrote in message news:CEZXf.12344$kT4.11765@fed1read02...
