I use OE 6.0, IE 6.0.
I noticed recently that my "Sent" emails are not being saved in the "Sent" folder after sending them. I checked the Tools/Send and the box is selected to save them. I sent myself an email to see if the actual email is being sent and it was. Any thoughts on this pain! bill |

Any thoughts on this pain! bill The Sent Items folder might be corrupt? Move all messages from it that you wish to retain, into a folder that you create. Close OE. You need to then find the file "Sent Items.dbx" and delete it, (In Windows XP, the Outlook Express files, including .wab and .dbx files, are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under StartControl PanelFolder OptionsView). OE will create a new Sent Items folder when you open OE, move your messages back to it. If that does not fix your problem repeat on the Outbox.dbx. If you have a lot of saved messages move them to created folders for storage. Never store mail in the default folders, Inbox, Sent, Drafts, this causes the type of problem that you are now seeing. When you are OK again you need to compact your message store! Select Outlook Express at the top of the folder treethen OEfilework offline. Then Filefoldercompact all folders. Do not touch your machine until it finishes. HTH? -- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. OE. [DTS] |

If you are not seeing your sent message stuck in the Outbox, and you are not seeing the same message being repeatedly sent, I would suspect that you have, somehow, cleared the setting to "Save copy of sent messages in the 'Sent Items' folder". Tools | Options | Send, and check the appropriate box. Otherwise, folder corruption is a possibility, as outlined in the reply from mac. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

tks so much for quick reply.
What part of the problem was the date got corrupted somehow and my emails were showing a May 1 sent date forcing other dates somewhere else. Can't figure out how that happened. Some of the dates were 4/30/06 also. But I have kept replies in case it happens again and need rebuilding. bw |
