Default Changing mail folder to drive D:?

I've got a typical PC with a single hard drive that is formatted as two
"virtual drives" C and D.

I'm thinking of putting my Outlook Express mail folder on drive D in order
to "distribute the wealth". That is, the My Documents folder on Drive C and
the Outlook Express folder on Drive D -- these are the two folders that
basically store the most things.

It suddenly occurred to me that it might not be advisable to put the OE
folder on Drive D, since I've heard that the mboxes are fragile, etc. etc.
So I thought that before doing it, I'd ask on the list for opinions and
previous experience. Anybody foresee any potential problems with me doing
this?

Thanks,

John

The Program Files must reside on your root drive (C:\) but you can create a
folder on the other partition (D:\) to hold the Mail messages. Just to be
sure to create it and name it, before opening Outlook Express and clicking
on Tools/Options/Maintenance followed by Store Folder button and then the
Change button. To make it easy to remember, just call the new folder on D:\
the Mail folder.

Failing to create the folder first, can in some circumstances, cause you to
lose your stored messages.

Great, thanks. That corresponds more or less to what I suspected was the
case. Scary, that part about possibly losing messages!

Perfect! I just did it and it worked like a charm. And reading those
instructions you pointed me to also saved me from a potential disaster,
because I was all ready to manually copy the mailbox files to the new
location -- it seems that this would have gone very badly.

Thanks again to all,

John
